Alysa Bathrick: ‘Cute Mugshot Girl’ Busted Again, More Cute Mugshots Go Viral — But No Tweets Yet

Alysa Suguro Bathrick, the North Carolina 18-year-old who became an internet viral celebrity briefly last December after her mugshot from a drug arrest went viral — thanks to the fact that she posted it herself on Twitter and declared it “cute” — is back in the news again. Why? Well, for the expected reason. She was arrested again.

And, of course, she has a brand new mugshot.

This time, Bathrick was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and concealing goods. So far, she has not yet tweeted out her new mugshot, nor has she made any online remarks boasting about how little the arrest means to her.

When she was arrested in December, she achieved instant internet fame not only for this mugshot…

…but also for the Twitter comments she posted accompanying the mugshot.

“F*** what you heard,” Bathrick wrote at the time. “And my mugshot’s cute.”

She continued to engage her newfound fans on Twitter, and when she replied to a question about which drug she was arrested for, her reply — “Xanax, homie” — cemented her online celebrity.

But will her fame stand up to the scrutiny of her new arrest? Shoplifting is not nearly as glamorous a charge as “Xanax, homie,” and then there’s her new mugshot, which may not be quite as “cute” as its December predecessor.

In fact, according to a report in the New York Daily News, even the December “Xanax, homie” arrest was not Bathrick’s first run-in with the law. She had two previous arrests in 2012 and 2013 on assault charges.

The mugshots from each of those busts can be seen at the top of this page. In each, Bathrick appears far less confident than in the mugshots for her more recent arrests.

Though, according to media reports citing county records, Bathrick was both arrested and released on bond in connection with the shoplifting charge on Monday, March 2, the formerly defiant teen has yet to post any new Twitter messages with regard to her new arrest.

She did, however, retweet this posting from her friend “Bacon and Eggs.”

Perhaps her silence is due to the fact that while her December mugshot featured Bathrick flashing a seductively alluring gaze, her new March mugshot appears a little scary, as she pulls a far more severe facial expression.

Or perhaps Alysa Bathrick, this time around, was told by a lawyer that she is better off keeping her online mouth shut.
