‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ — Major Questions From The Latest Trailer

The third trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron was released by Marvel yesterday. The movie is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, as reported by the Inquisitr. The trailer is full of major action sequences that will leave many grown-ups excited like a kid on Christmas morning. While the new trailer featured events that had already appeared in previous trailers, like the fight between the Hulk and Iron Man, the video was jammed packed of all new footage of the Avengers. While some speculation may have been confirmed with the new footage, the trailer has brought up new questions that are desperately waiting to be answered. Here are six questions that were raised by the release of the new trailer.

What makes Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver switch sides?

There had been speculation that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver would start the first half of the movie as villains, helping Ultron achieve his plan of wiping out the human race. That seems to be confirmed in the new trailer. The twins are seen fighting the Avengers, with Scarlet Witch playing with Black Widow’s mind while Quicksilver lands a mean uppercut on Captain America. However, at the very end of the trailer, we see Scarlet Witch fighting alongside the Avengers. What made them switch sides? What made them fight alongside Ultron in the first place?

Is that the Soul Gem on Vision’s forehead?

Marvel saved the biggest reveal for the end of the trailer, finally unveiling the Vision. He is seen with his eyes closed, then he suddenly awakens. The most interesting thing about his brief appearance was the gem in his forehead. In the comics, Vision has a solar jewel in his forehead which allows him to absorb solar energy in order to function. The energy he accumulates allows him to project energy beams from the jewel. However, speculation is growing that the gem in Vision’s forehead is actually the Soul Gem, another Infinity Stone. It could perhaps explain why Vision is good, unlike Ultron. The color of the Gem also coincides with the one on the Infinity Gauntlet shown by Marvel when announcing their upcoming films in Phase 3 of their cinematic universe. The culmination of Phase 3 will be Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Part II, announced by Marvel in October of last year.

What is Tony Stark going to do with Loki’s scepter?

During the trailer, it is shown that Loki’s scepter from the first Avengers film is in the possession of Tony Stark. It is seen in a lab while Stark tells Bruce Banner about the origins of Ultron. Stark is later seen grabbing the scepter and looking at it fanatically. What is Stark planning to do with it? Will he try to use is to stop Ultron? Could it make things worse?

How many armors will Tony Stark wear?

When Thor questions Ultron’s power before he unleashes hundreds of robots against the Avengers, you can see Iron Man standing behind Thor. The suit he is wearing is different from the previous two armors that have been announced. How many suits will he wear throughout the film? How is that suit better or worse than his previous one?

What are the Avengers protecting from Ultron and his Robots?

In the major battle scene shown in the trailer, the Avengers are seen battling hundreds of Ultron’s robots. In the trailer, we see an aerial shot of the battle, and it seems as if the Avengers are purposely surrounding something during the battle. It seems as if they are trying to protect it from Ultron. It is still unknown what it is.

What is that claw-looking thing?

This question is the only one that can be easily answered. A quick glimpse at what at first glance appears to be claws can be seen during the trailer. Fans have speculated that this may in fact be the villain Ulysses Klaw, played by Andy Serkis. However, if you look at it closely you can see that the person holding the claw looking device is also holding a bow. The person is most likely Hawkeye, the Avenger whose signature weapon is a bow and arrow.
