Ireland has already pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, but they feel it was just another win. Zimbabwe is in desperate need of a victory as they are sitting at 1-3 in Pool B play, and time is running out. They are ready to clash and you can watch it streaming live online so you don’t miss a second of the action.
In Match 5, Ireland pulled off a big upset of West Indies by four wickets and then defeated UAE by two wickets in their next match. In Match 24, things got ugly as South Africa demolished them by 201 runs, but they’re hoping to bounce back.
Zimbabwe is not playing well so far and it all began with a 62-run loss to South Africa, but that was followed up by a win over UAE by four wickets. Since then, they lost to West Indies (by 73 runs) and then to Pakistan (by 20 runs) to fall to 1-3.
News was not good for Zimbabwe this week as an injury has their captain, Elton Chigumbura, out for the match against Ireland, per NDTV Sports.
“A MRI scan showed that Chigumbura suffered a third grade tear of his quadriceps muscle — a large muscle group on the front of the thigh,” said a Zimbabwe team statement.
“Because of the severity of the injury, Chigumbura will not be available for selection for Zimbabwe’s fifth Group B match, which is against Ireland at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart this Saturday.”
After the big loss to South Africa, Ireland is looking at the match-up with Zimbabwe as a must-win. Captain William Porterfield knows that his team needs to take this game and not leave with another loss.
“The game against Zimbabwe now is very big for us,” said Porterfield.
“We’ll be looking to go down there [to Hobart] and pick up two points.”
The match between Zimbabwe vs. Ireland is scheduled to begin at 14:30 local time (03:30 GMT) on Saturday, March 7, at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand.
ESPN will begin online streaming at 10:00 p.m. EST on Friday, March 6, but that is just one option to watch Zimbabwe vs. Ireland live. ESPN does charge a fee to watch all of the matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, so be aware of that.
