Professor Calls To Include Porn On Danish High School National Curriculum

A well-known Danish sexology professor has come out and called for high school students to be shown pornography as part of their educational curriculum, in order that they can learn the difference between real sex and and the sex they see on screen.

The professor, Christian Graugaard, who spoke to public broadcaster DR, said the move would prevent teens from having unrealistic expectations when it came to sex due to their exposure to hardcore pornography,

As Graugard said, “Instead of having sex education be boring and technical, where you roll a condom onto a cucumber, I’d rather have us educate our children to be critical consumers who see porn with a certain distance and reflection.”

While the move might sound shocking to some, the fact that teenagers in Scandinavia who have watched porn stands at around 99 percent of boys and a staggering 86 percent of girls.

To Graugard’s mind, showing high schoolers porn is a good thing, as they need to learn that their own sex lives probably won’t mirror what they see the porn stars do on camera.

When the professor put the idea to a class of school kids, he said their was response was positive.

As ninth grader Anders Kaagaard said, “I think you could get something out of it – for example the difference between real love between two people who have sex and hard porn and orgies from the US.”

Denmark is the first country in the world to have legalized pornography in 1967, and these days porn is fairly mainstream and common there. On top of that, the idea to introduce porn as part of sex education is not unique, as similar initiatives have been suggested in the UK and Sweden.

It remains to be seen whether or not the authorities in the Scandinavian country will adopt the proposal, which is controversial to say the least.
