Bo Derek Makes Comeback In ‘Sharknado 3’, Joins Mark Cuban And Ann Coulter

Just when you thought it couldn’t get more absurd, it does. Sharknado proved to be a hit for SyFy (probably for all the wrong reasons), warranting a sequel for the self-aware monster movie. In four months’ time, they will be releasing the third film in the franchise and it’s shaping up to be sillier than the first two films combined. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will be reprising their roles as Fin and April respectively, with the action moving to Washington, D.C.

Ziering and Reid will be joined by some familiar faces for the third Sharknado movie. It’s been announced that Shark Tank investor and Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, will be joining the cast as the President of the United States. And just who will be playing the Vice President? Well, it’s conservative pundit Ann Coulter. It’s an inspired casting choice and it somehow makes sense in the world of Sharknado. “I had a blast doing it,” Cuban told Us Weekly. “Lots of shooting, running, and sharking — in a very presidential manner.”

And it’s not just Cuban and Coulter who will be appearing on the movie. Bo Derek, one of the most popular sex symbols of the ’80s, will be appearing as Tara Reid’s mom, and ‘N Sync’s Chris Kirkpatrick will have a cameo as a lifeguard. Even Jerry Springer will be showing up as a manic tourist named Mr. White, although Springer revealed on Twitter that it doesn’t end well for his character. WWE superstar Chris Jericho also has a role as a roller-coaster ride operator named Bruce. However, it’s currently unknown if it’s just a cameo or will Bruce be playing a bigger part in the made-for-TV movie.

Anthony C. Ferrante will be returning to helm Sharknado 3. It’s become an annual tradition for the SyFy channel to air an installment of the B-movie throwback, hoping to follow up on the success of the first one. Even Ian Ziering is hopeful that there will be more Sharknado films in the future.

“Thunder Levin, the writer of the films has steered us well,” Ziering said in an interview. “I am hoping this is a seven course meal! I would like the third installment to be taken to foreign shores! Sharkpocolypse Now!”

While the rest of the cast can be considered “C-list celebrities,” getting Bo Derek to join the movie is a big get for the Sharknado team. Plus, she has experience in dealing with killer marine life. Her first film role was in the movie Orca(also known as Orca: The Killer Whale).
