Before ‘Borderlands: The Handsome Collection’ Is Released, Gearbox Gives Away More Free Loot In ‘Borderlands 2,’ ‘The Pre-Sequel’

While Gearbox Software’s launch of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will bring the past two installments of the popular co-op shooter to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for the first time, plenty of gamers are still playing both titles on last-gen consoles. Making sure to keep the series existing fanbase happy before the new remastered collection releases later in March, the developer has released two new sets of SHiFT codes this week that will grant fans with free in-game loot within Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Gearbox Software’s newly released SHiFT codes will give players five golden keys that can be used to obtain random equipment to use inside Borderlands 2. The developer handed out the codes from the franchise’s official Twitter account. Each platform has its own set of keys that will remain active through the rest of this week.

  • PS3 / PS Vita: WBWB3-K6ZST-6JKSC-9BCJT-X595W
  • PC / Mac: KJWBJ-JWT5R-9WTXK-BJT3J-Z9FCJ

Giving fans of the more recently released Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel a chance to get their own rare gear, Gearbox Software President Randy Pitchford released a second set of new SHiFT codes for use within the series’ third installment. Unlike the Borderlands 2 keys, however, The Pre-Sequel codes can only be redeemed a limited number of times, and thus won’t likely last until the weekend.

The new SHiFT codes can be entered from the main menu of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. After redemption, users will automatically receive their golden keys the next time that they play. The keys can be used to open the special loot chests that can be found in the central city of either game. This golden chest is guaranteed to contain a rare item of appropriate level.

As Gearbox Software continues to shop support to their fans by continually handing out free loot, the developer is also currently developing remastered versions of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel for current-gen consoles. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, both games will be bundled on the Xbox One and PS4, along with all their DLC packs. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection launches on March 24 and will allow players to transfer their progress from older versions of the game.

Are you still playing the last-gen editions of the Borderlands titles or are you waiting for the release of The Handsome Collection before you play the loot-based shooter again?
