Gasland Director Josh Fox Arrested For Crashing House Hearing


Oscar-nominated Gasland director Josh Fox was arrested by Capitol Police on Wednesday morning when he refused to leave a House hearing.

Fox is best known for Gasland a documentary that attacks the practices of energy drilling throughout the United States.

The director was attempting to film a House Science Committee hearing on the controversial technique when he was charged with “unlawful entry” into the building.

Republican party members attending the hearing objected to the ABC News film crew being on premise because they did not give enough notice about their presence.

Democratic Rep. Brad Miller attempted to allow filming to continue by putting the crews presence to a vote however the Republicans in attendance tabled the request.

Following the denial of a vote Miller said of the strange circumstances leading to Fox’s arrested:

“Most members kind of like having press; it’s fairly unusual to lead somebody away in handcuffs like that,” Miller says.
