3,500 Year Old Tablet May Contain “Yo Mama” Joke

While “Yo Mama” jokes became a huge hit in the early part of the 21st century it may have been a jokester in Babylon 3,500 years ago who actually penned the first known “Yo Mama” joke along with jokes about beer and intercourse.

Discovered in an ancient tablet by the archaeologist J.J. van Dijk and since lost without a trace the tablets findings have since been published in a reputable journal.

Using images left behind from the tablet Michael Streck and Nathan Wasserman analyzed the Babylon writings for the journal Iraq and found 6 riddles. The first features a reference to alcohol:

In your mouth and your teeth, constantly stared at you, the measuring vessel of your lord. (-What is it?)Beer.

The researchers point out that “your teeth” could also refer to “your urine.” Yeah we don’t get it either.

The Tablet then features a piece about politics and war:

The deflowered (girl) did not become pregnant. The undeflowered (girl) became pregnant (-What is it?)Auxiliary forces.

The tablet then reads:

He gouged out the eye: It is not the fate of a dead man. He cut the throat: A dead man (-Who is it?)

Streck and W refer this piece as a reference to a Babylonian governor who had the power to sentence people to death.

Also the real gem of the piece is of course the “Yo Mama” joke which reads:

…of your motheris by the one who has intercourse with her. What/who is it?[No answer]

Really they left us hanging?
