Hilary Duff Opens Up And Talks Divorce From Mike Comrie

Hilary Duff has been fighting for love for some time now, but even the strong of heart know when to call it quits.

Hilary Duff is opening up about her decision to finally divorce from husband Mike Comrie and according to US Weekly. While the marriage may be over, she says that their time together was mostly filled with love.

“Mike and I were very in love when we met. We both really wanted to get married. I’d been working since the age of 11 or 12, so making that choice at a young age seemed right for me. Maybe it wasn’t, but we spent the majority of our time together really happy.”

Even though the couple separated in January of last year, they did try to work things out not only for them, but also for their son. Throughout the past year the couple has been seen out and about together and with their son, sparking hope for many that the two would be able to work it all out. But that wasn’t the case.

“It wasn’t working well enough to stay together, but there was still a lot of love involved. It was just a slow set-in of us not being the match that we used to be.”

During an interview with Cosmopolitan Magazine, Hilary opened up about not only the divorce, but also about her views on love post-divorce.

“I don’t want to sound bitter because I’m definitely not, but I don’t know if people are meant to be together forever. Things happen over a long relationship that you can’t always fight. A marriage of 20 years, the accomplishment of that must feel really great, but there are also huge sacrifices. I just always want to fight for happiness.”

According to a previous report by the Inquisitr, Hilary Duff officially filed for divorce on February 20, 2015 after the couple had separated back in January 2014. The two were wed in 2010 and have one child together, son Luca, 2.

After over a year of trying to make their marriage work, what was the straw that allegedly broke the camel’s back? According to the Inquisitr, it was Mike Comrie behavior that led to the divorce. Reports have stated that Comrie spent a night out drinking which later led to him propositioning women for sex.

While Hilary Duff is still speaking kindly of her soon-to-be ex-husband, according to TMZ she has requested primary physical custody of their son, though she does want Comrie to have visitation. Further details of the divorce will be worked out in the weeks to come.
