‘Adventure Time’ Movie: Oh My Glob! Finn Is Going To The Big Screen

Mathematical, man! That’s right, Finn the Human and Jake the Dog will be getting their very own Adventure Time movie. The land of Ooo, and presumably, all of its inhabitants are hitting the big screen. The popular Cartoon Network show is being made into a feature-length film by Warner Bros.

Deadline, which first reported the story, gives readers a brief synopsis of the cartoon.

“Created by Pendleton Ward at Cartoon Networks Studios, ‘Adventure Time’ follows the escapades of 12-year-old boy Finn and best friend dog Jake who fight fiercely in a quest to protect their beloved Land of Ooo, usually from the Ice King who is searching high and low for his Princess Bubblegum. The project will be produced by the winning combo of Chris McKay and Roy Lee.”

McKay helped produce The Lego Movie, a hit that has split into many feature films. Adventure Time, with its many characters and facets, could easily become another “cultural phenom.”

The cartoon favorite was first known was Adventure Time with Finn and Jake. Eventually, the show’s title was shortened to just Adventure Time. The cast of the show also grew to quite a few characters, all with interesting names.

“The fantasy ‘Adventure Time’ has a bevy of unusual (and cleverly named) characters ranging from Boobafina, Earl of Lemongrab, Cloud Groom, Evil Guy (voiced by Mark Hamil), Lumpy Space Princess, Flame Princess and Marceline the Vampire Queen (voiced by Olivia Olson and Cloris Leachman), to name a few.”

Aside from those mentioned above, the show has also had a slew of celebrities throwing their voices around. George Takei, Neil Patrick Harris, and Andy Samberg have all given a voice to an inhabitant (or two) of Ooo.

According to the Huffington Post, this is not the first time that rumors have popped up about a possible Adventure Time movie.

“There have been rumblings about an “Adventure Time” feature film for a while, with the show’s executive producer Adam Muto even saying he’d like to see a live-action movie, but now the project has finally been confirmed.”

Adventure Time is currently in its sixth season on Cartoon Network. The cartoon has, some would say surprisingly, won awards and has been an inspiration for video games and footwear. IGN puts the show in its list of Top 25 Animated Series for Adults.

I fully admit that I am an adult who watches Adventure Time. Are you? And yes, I am excited about a feature length Adventure Time movie.
