Mark Salling: His ‘Glee’ Souvenir Is A Heartwarming Tribute
Actor Mark Salling truly chose one of the most heartwarming items from the Glee set to take with him as a souvenir.
The 32-year-old actor decided to take the plaque used to honor the memory of Finn Hudson, the star quarterback/Glee member played by the late Cory Monteith.
Salling posted a picture of the plaque on his Twitter and Instagram pages Thursday, along with a sentimental caption.

Glee fans and viewers will easily recognize the plaque, because it hung in the choir room after Cory Monteith (and his TV character) died back in 2013.
After six seasons, the hit Ryan Murphy-created television series officially wrapped on February 21. Even though the final episode is not going to air until March 20, the cast and crew have apparently already said their “Goodbyes” — especially to the actual set that their characters have called home over the years.

Mark Salling was not the only Glee star that took a memorable souvenir away from the set that connected with Cory Monteith’s character. Lea Michele made headlines when she posted a picture of herself walking away with Finn Hudson’s framed football jersey on Twitter.

Mark had the chance to open up in a November, 2014, interview with People magazine about Cory Monteith’s death and the void that it left in the Glee cast. In his own words, Salling expressed that Cory Monteith’s memory was still on his mind.
“Cory Monteith was a great leader as a character and person in real life. It’s a big, obvious hole. I still think about him all the time. He was kind of like the quarterback of the show… but he was kind of like that in real life.”
Mark was not the only person that had nothing but kind words to say about Cory Monteith after he died. Many of Cory’s former castmates and crew members shared similar expressions — including Cory’s longtime girlfriend, Lea Michele.
Mark Salling and Cory Monteith were apparently close friends on and off-camera, which is why his Glee souvenir will more than likely be cherished in his home for many years to come.
