Shailene Woodley Goes Topless For Glamour U.K., Talks About Sex And Nudity
Shailene Woodley is not only one of the most outspoken actresses around right now, she’s also really comfortable in her own skin. The Insurgent star opted to pose topless for the April, 2015, issue of Glamour U.K., wearing only a loose pair of bellbottoms for one of the photos. Woodley was also interviewed by the magazine, with the actress sharing her opinions about sex, nudity, and Fifty Shades of Grey.

“Part of the reason I love Europe is that sexuality is no big deal there,” Woodley said in the interview. “You go to a topless beach and the dudes aren’t checking out your t*ts, because they’re just boobs. [In America] sex is something that’s not talked about — yet it’s in our faces more than anything else.” Woodley adds, “In school, rather than teach you about sex, they tell you about abstinence, which doesn’t work.” Woodley also talked about her stance on nudity onscreen. In last year’s White Bird in A Blizzard, Woodley bared her skin for the daring role. “I’m totally comfortable with nudity,” she said.
“I’m not sure it empowers me as an actress or anything, but if I’m going to do a movie with sex scenes, then I’m going to be naked, because I don’t know about you, but I don’t have sex with bras and panties on.”

During the course of the interview, Woodley admitted that she was interested in the role of Anastasia Steele in the big-screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. It was reported that she was even a favorite of writer E.L. James for the role. However, her schedule for Divergent clashed with Fifty Shades of Grey‘s shooting schedule. “I’d read the books and thought, ‘If somebody really can pull this off and make a movie out of it, they will be the biggest genius,’ ” she told the magazine.
Woodley is known for giving candid interviews. Last year, she told InStyle how her free-spirited lifestyle affected her dating life. According to Woodley, “I have zero expectations and zero rules. I’m open. I can’t see it being another actor, except that they understand this lifestyle. Hey I could fall in love with an Aussie and move to Australia. Who knows!”
She added, “I’m done living for other people. I’m done being a people pleaser. I’m done thinking about what people think about me.”
Shailene Woodley will next be seen on Oliver Stone’s biopic about the NSA contractor-turned-whistleblower, Edward Snowden.
