Morgan J. Freeman Explains Farrah Abraham’s Return To ‘Teen Mom’

Morgan J. Freeman, executive producer of Teen Mom and Teen Mom OG, is bringing the cast back to MTV next month, and ahead of the new season, he’s speaking of the network’s most shocking casting decision.

In an interview with TV Guide Magazine on February 26, Morgan J. Freeman explained why Abraham was brought back to the show, despite her co-stars’ feelings.

Speaking to the magazine, Morgan J. Freeman admitted he and the network initially planned to move forward with the series without Abraham, choosing to instead focus on the other girls.

“Initially in bringing it back, that was the decision. … I do think her priorities and the things she was focused on did not quite fit in at the time. We sort of started them at different points. We didn’t have to jump into their stories at the exact same time. Just looking at those three stories, ultimately, there was a feeling that something was missing and having a fourth perspective — the four different journeys and four different sets of consequences, all stemming from Teen Mom — that was the right way to go.”

Following Morgan J. Freeman’s fourth season of Teen Mom, the show was thought to be over, and Abraham quickly embarked on a new career. Unfortunately, her co-stars, including Catelynn Lowell, Maci Bookout, and Amber Portwood, weren’t fans.

In 2013, Abraham released a sex tape, whose titled played off of the Morgan J. Freeman series. In the months that followed, Abraham traveled the country, flying from state to state to promote the sale of Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom. She later continued her adult business ventures with a line of sex toys and a series of erotic novels.

The next year, Morgan J. Freeman and his team began plotting the return of Teen Mom, and quickly determined the series would be better off with Abraham than without.

“The other girls aren’t fond of Farrah, to say the least.”

Although Morgan J. Freeman’s cast wasn’t on board with Abraham’s return, it’s sure to make for good television.

“That’s hopefully what people will be watching for!”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, the trailer for the Morgan J. Freeman series was released online earlier this week. In the clip, which was first shared by People Magazine, the cast is seen reacting to the news of Abraham’s return. Bookout seems especially peeved, immediately telling the crew to leave.

Morgan J. Freeman’s Teen Mom OG premieres on March 23 at 10 p.m. on MTV.
