Amanda Bynes Update: Troubled Actress ‘Has Her Own Apartment And Is Much Happier,’ Source Says

Amanda Bynes is doing a lot better these days, a source close to the family told ABC News. A few months after the troubled actress was placed into psychiatric hold, her mental health and overall situation has greatly improved. A family source gave an official update to ABC News on early Thursday morning.

“Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago. She has her own apartment and is much happier. She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence.”

Bynes, 28, was hospitalized in October after displaying some disturbing behavior in a TMZ video. She also went on a public Twitter rant against her father, claiming that he sexually abused her when she was a little girl. Bynes’ parents have placed her on a temporary conservatorship, so they can have control over their daughter’s finances and medical care.

Amanda’s increasingly worrisome behavior in November was due to her early release from a psychiatric facility in October, after receiving only one month of treatment. From October to November, Amanda allegedly shoplifted, scratched a woman at a nightclub, and was kicked out of John F. Kennedy airport. She was also reportedly homeless at the time. Amanda’s friends even commented on her unusual behavior to the media.

People Magazine confirmed that a judge extended Amanda’s conservatorship until her June 23 hearing. Her DUI case from September was also dismissed, according to her lawyer, David Esquibias. Amanda’s lawyer also spoke with People about her well-being. “Amanda is doing well,” Esquibias confirmed. The Inquisitr also reported that Amanda’s DUI charge was dismissed, and she was doing much better these days.

Bynes has been laying low on social media lately. She was notorious for updating her official Twitter account with tweets that often referred to her distaste for the media and her affection for rapper Drake. Bynes was also seen “wandering around West Hollywood and acting erratically.” In an exclusive video by TMZ, the former actress threatened to kill both of her parents.

The Daily Mail hints that court documents from July 2013 said that Amanda showed signs of schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder. The court documents say that mother Lynn Bynes found Amanda’s strange behavior “as a substantial risk to herself, to others and to property.” Many people believe that that her first DUI charge in 2012 triggered her strange behavior on and off Twitter. However, there are some fans that believe Amanda’s bizarre behavior began as early as 2010, when she announced that she was retiring from acting.

Since then, it’s been a downward spiral for the child star. Fans are holding out hope that Amanda Bynes fully recovers and gets her life back on track.
