‘The Big Bang Theory’: How Mrs. Wolowitz’s Death Will Impact Show

The Big Bang Theory recently mourned the death of Howard’s mother in emotional fashion, several months after the passing of Carol Ann Susi, the actress who voiced her.

And Steven Molaro, who is a producer on The Big Bang Theory, has now explained that, even though the sitcom normally strives for laughs, it will continue to deal with the fallout from this tragic moment over the forthcoming episodes.

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Molaro explained, “We will certainly continue to deal with – Wolowitz and Bernadette in particular – with the fallout of her passing away for a number of episodes down the line.”

Mrs. Debbie Wolowitz’s death was announced in The Big Bang Theory’s “The Comic Book Store Regeneration”. You can watch the truly touching scene where Howard learns of her passing below.

One of the fallouts of Howard’s mother’s death is set to see an airline lose her ashes on Howard and Bernadette’s return flight from the funeral in Florida, where she had been visiting Howard’s Aunt Gladys when she died. However, by the end of the impending episode, entitled, “The Intimacy Acceleration,” the urn will be found.

The death of Howard’s mother allowed the cast and crew to mourn Carol Ann Susi who succumbed after a battle with cancer in Los Angeles, on November 11, 2014. She was 62-years-old.

Previously the actress, who was never actually seen on-screen in The Big Bang Theory and only boomed out the voice of her character while off camera, had also appeared in the likes of Married… With Children, Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, Just Shoot Me and Coyote Ugly, while she had also forged out an impressive live theatre career too.

Meanwhile, as the Inquisitr previously reported, Molaro also explained during a discussion with Yahoo TV that the entire ordeal of writing the episode and incorporating Susi’s death was difficult, but he feels that they managed to successful do just that.

“I had never been involved in writing an episode like this before. There’s a lot of other things going on in this episode that have nothing to do with [her death], and that, I think, helped a lot. When the moment comes, we just tried to handle it as honestly as we could, certainly not try to force jokes in where they didn’t feel like they would belong. I think we managed to do it.”

The Big Bang Theory will air the first episode following Mrs Wolowitz’s death, “The Intimacy Acceleration”, on CBS on Thursday night.
