WWE News: Huge Five Man Ladder Match For The Intercontinental Title To Take Place At ‘WrestleMania 31’?

In an encouraging but also discouraging article of news, it appears that WWE will be adding a big match to WrestleMania 31 for the Intercontinental Championship. We all assumed that Dean Ambrose would get his shot at Bad News Barrett at WrestleMania after he lost by DQ at WWE Fast Lane, but it appears that WWE will be taking this all a step further.

According to Cageside Seats, WWE may be adding a five man ladder match for the IC Title to Wrestlemania. This is in an effort to replace the Money in the Bank ladder match and have multiple men involved in a match on the show. WWE has been trying to figure out a way to replace the Money in the Bank match with something just as exciting, but it was tough to figure out what they’d do.

WWE added the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal to get a lot of talent on the show last year and they are planning to bring the match back this year, but it will involve a ton of mid-card talent that many aren’t really going to care as much about. A ladder match for the IC Title would certainly get people talking.

The match is set to involve the current champion Bad News Barrett, the man who thinks he’s champion in Dean Ambrose, a man who beat Barrett randomly one week in R-Truth, and the man who beat Barrett this past week, Dolph Ziggler. Daniel Bryan is set to be thrown into this mix as well as of current plans. However, those might change if WWE decides to add him to a bigger match.

The idea going into WrestleMania was that both Ziggler and Bryan were pushing for a singles match together. WWE fans were happy with the idea as it would give them a match with two great workers which would be a main event for them due to the WWE World Title match not being worthy of such. Instead, WWE looks to be adding both men to the IC Title match.

While it is weird that WWE would throw the two into a random match like this that many assume going in that Dean Ambrose would walk out the winner of, they are already setting up this concept on TV.

Do not be surprised if Barrett loses to Daniel Bryan next week, giving Bryan a claim for the match. WWE could very well add yet another top mid-carder to the match to even it out at a six-man match. We will have to see what WWE plans, but this would give fans a big match to include some top stars.

The issue is, who does WWE pick to win when in reality the best IC contender going into this was originally Dean Ambrose? While many might pan the idea, by having multiple men in the match could be longer and a lot more fun. So the concept makes sense on paper, but will it be in reality? That is up for debate.
