Paul McCartney At 2015 Firefly Music Fest: ‘SNL’ Or ‘Roo?

Paul McCartney has a career that has stretched over six decades, and he is still headlining shows throughout the world. The latest news released on Paul McCartney pertains to topping the iTunes charts along with Kanye and Rihanna. On his website, Paul McCartney announced on February 25 that he would be headlining the Firefly Music Fest — but fans want to know if he will play like he did on SNL or choose a re-performance of his famed Bonnaroo set?

NPR Delaware stated that the rumor Paul McCartney would join the Firefly Festival as a “third headliner” was leaked on Twitter by EDMSecrets in mid-February. According to Billboard Magazine, the initial Firefly Fest lineup list was released on February 17, but the headliner was blurred out. It was speculated that Macca would be the headliner.

On the Firefly Music Festival message board, fans were quick to send their praises about Paul McCartney being the new addition. When asked if they were excited about seeing Paul McCartney on stage, one fan wrote, “Based on what folks who went to Roo last year told me, absolutely.” On the other hand, some fans were afraid that it would be a terrible set, like the one Paul McCartney did for Saturday Night Live (SNL).

Another fan stated that they heard Paul McCartney did a 38-song set at Bonnaroo 2013 and hoped to see the same at the Firefly Fest. However, nothing has been stated so far about what Paul McCartney intends to play for the 2015 Firefly Festival.

About other performances featuring Paul McCartney, one fan on the Firefly Festival message board took time to write a review of a show that they saw with Paul McCartney in Cincinnati in 2011. The fan states the following.

“Everything about it was incredible–the music, the band, his energy, the history, stories etc. He had a few short anecdotes about his days with all the Beatles and some encounters w/ Hendrix in the 60’s. The show had it all. I cannot wait [to see Paul McCartney at the 2015 Firefly Fest] and everyone should be super excited! It will be amazing.”

Held at The Woodlands in Dover, Delaware, the 2015 Firefly Music Festival starring Paul McCartney will taking place on June 18 to 21. Tickets officially go on sale March 2. Paul McCartney will be playing at the Firefly Festival with other musical acts like Morrissey, Le1F, Snoop Dogg, Matt and Kim, Cage the Elephant, Dirty Heads, Broods, and Run the Jewels.
