Roy High School Bomb Plot: 2 Utah Teens Arrested in Alleged School Massacre Plot

Police say two Utah teenagers were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to bomb a school assembly then make their getaway in a plane.

Dallin Morgan, 18, and Joshua Hogan, 16, were pulled out of class Wednesday, questioned and eventually taken into custody after another student at Roy High School reported a text message sent by one of them that “she felt was a threat and a danger,” said a police rep.

“She immediately went to the administration,” the rep added.

While police searches at the boys’ homes and the school turned up no explosives, they believe the pair had built explosive devices in the past.

Investigators also found the pair had extensive knowledge of the school’s security system and layout and had logged long hours on an advanced flight-simulator computer program.

“Initial investigative discovery has uncovered a plan to use explosives during a school assembly,” Roy Police said in a statement Thursday. “Maps of the school and information about security systems had been prepared with plans to escape using a plane.”

According to CNN, 16-year-old Hogan told police he was fascinated by the 1999 shootings at Columbine High School, but was offended by the fact that those killers only completed 1 percent of their plan.

“He was much more intelligent than that. … (He) explained to me that he could complete his plan due to how intelligent he is,” an officer who questioned Hogan said.

Dallin Morgan was booked into Weber County Jail and Joshua Hogan was taken to a juvenile facility, the Weber Valley Detention Center. They are both being held for investigation of conspiracy to commit mass destruction.
