Maci Bookout Parenting: Reality Show Star Talks Punishing Son, Ryan Edwards Cheating
Maci Bookout is probably one of the most well-liked of the original Teen Mom cast members. After the original show was cancelled, there were rumors that the redhead would be getting her own spin-off. While the spin-off never happened, she did appear in a one-hour MTV special titled Being Maci.
The show was reportedly supposed to be a spin-off, but rather it showed footage of Maci spending time with her friends, attempting to co-parent with Ryan Edwards, and parenting her son. It was the last aspect that had some people talking when the special aired, as a scene where the Teen Mom took Bentley into the bathroom to spank him was included. At the time, Maci faced a lot of backlash over the ordeal and she defender herself on Twitter. When she had to rewatch the clip, she still defender her actions, according to Wetpaint.
“I’m a firm believer in whipping their a**. That day at the bowling alley I’d had enough. I had told him, I was like ‘If you act like this again I’m gonna take you to the bathroom and I’m gonna whip you,’ because I knew they couldn’t film us in a stall. Honestly I got more positive feedback from that then negative, which I was not expecting. Don’t let them get away with anything, because if you let them get away with it once, they’ll do it again.”
While not everyone may agree with Maci Bookout’s parenting, there is no doubt that Bentley is a happy and healthy six-year-old. He spends time with both of his parents, though as the Inquisitr previously reported, the new season of the MTV show will chronicle their troubles co-parenting.
There was a time when Maci and Ryan seemed to toy with the idea of getting back together, but that never happened. While watching a clip of her past relationship with Ryan, Maci opened up about why the two never got back together and, it turns out, that it may have had something to do with infidelity on Ryan’s part. Wetpaint reported Maci talking about her relationship.
“Ryan had been going out all the time, and I knew he was cheating on me. I was tired of feeling like an idiot. I’m sitting here taking care of your son while you’re out doing whatever.”
Since the two have a child together, the two will always have a bond together. However, they haven’t reconciled, and Maci Bookout has moved on with a new man and is expecting another baby this summer.
