Oscars 2015: Lady Gaga’s Red ‘Dishwashing Gloves’ Become New Internet Meme
Lady Gaga is typically known for her strange fashion sense. The singer reminded people at the Oscars that her penchant for weird style will never really die. Lady Gaga’s red leather gloves have already spawned several Internet memes on Sunday night.
The singer arrived to the Oscars red carpet sans fiancé Taylor Kinney. She also arrived without showing off her engagement ring. The singer kept her hands covered up in an unsightly pair of red leather gloves. It didn’t stop people from looking at her hands, and talking about her missing engagement ring.
#LadyGagaOscars2015 is currently trending worldwide on Twitter, says NJ.com. The “Do What You Want” singer trended because of the red gloves she wore with her white sparkly Azzedine Alaia couture gown. Fans were confused about what kind of look she was going for at the Oscars.
Some fans took to Twitter to joke that Gaga was doing the dishes and forgot to remove her gloves. The singer has already been Photoshopped into kitchens with overflowing sinks. She’s also been pictured with Palmolive bottles, pizza pans, and a floral apron.

Gaga said that her custom Alaia gown took 25 people ten weeks and 1,600 hours to make and embroider the gown. The singer denied that she wore the gloves to cover up her $500,000 heart-shaped engagement ring, given to her by fiancé Taylor Kinney on Valentine’s Day weekend. Gaga told Ryan Seacrest on the E! Live on the Red Carpet that she wore the gloves before her engagement happened, and wanted to follow through with the look for the Oscars.
Still, some fans are in doubt over why she wore the red gloves in the first place. They still think Gaga wore the gloves to the Oscars to take the attention off her engagement ring. Maybe she wanted to one up the white gloves worn by Amal Clooney at the 2015 Golden Globes.
