‘The DUFF’ Star Bella Thorne Makes An Eerily Good Anna In ‘Frozen’ Spoof [Video]

Bella Thorne might star as a cold-hearted mean girl in The DUFF, but the former Shake It Off! star recently proved that she can still pull off playing a warm-hearted Disney princess.

According to People, Bella Thorne and her The DUFF costar, Mae Whitman, recently reunited to film yet another Disney’s Frozen parody. The video above imagines what it would be like if Mae and Bella were cast in a live-action version of the popular animated film.

Thorne looks like a real-life version of Princess Anna while she chats about filming in the Arctic Circle. However, Whitman doesn’t look very comfortable portraying Queen Elsa — she’s really struggling with the “Daniel Day-Lewis level method acting” that requires her to spend way too much time out in the snow.

Mae really struggles through “Let It Go” while literal buckets of snow are dumped on her head, and she refuses to “let it go” when Bella tries to pull her warm shawl from her icy fingers. Unfortunately, poor “Salsa” isn’t telling the truth when she claims that the cold never bothered her anyway.

Starring in a Frozen parody was a pretty ingenious way for Bella Thorne and Mae Whitman to promote their new movie aimed at teen girls (they’re still Disney princess fans at heart). According to Movie Fanatic, Bella plays a cruel popular girl named Madison in The DUFF. Mae plays the Queen Bee’s quirky prey, a DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) who struggles with the mean-spirited label that she’s been given. She enlists her former childhood friend (Robbie Amell) to help her de-DUFF herself, and she learns a few valuable life lessons about love, friendship, and labels.

Bella Thorne might not mind revisiting her Disney days on occasion, but it’s obvious that the 17-year-old star doesn’t want to get typecast as a squeaky-clean teen queen — she’s trying to show her range by starring in a wide variety of different projects. As the Inquisitr previously reported, she’s starring in the upcoming horror flick Amityville: The Awakening, and she scored a role in the pilot for MTV’s Scream TV series According to the Wrap, Thorne has also landed a part in a Lifetime movie titled Perfect High. She’ll play a high school dancer who becomes a heroin addict after suffering an injury.

Bella Thorne might be trying to leave her Disney days far behind, but hopefully she’ll be open to reprising her role as Anna if the House of Mouse ever actually decides to do a live-action version of Frozen.
