Manchester City vs. Barcelona goes live online Tuesday, in a mouth-watering UEFA Champions League matchup that sees the current second-place teams in two of Europe’s most powerful leagues go head-to-head, trying to gain an advantage in the first leg of the Round of 16 two-legged tie.

The Tuesday showdown is also a rematch of last season’s Round of 16 Champions League fixture. Manchester City, however, will be hopeful of a better showing than in 2014, when they bowed to Barcelona without too much of a fight, dropping the two legged elimination contest by an aggregate score of 4-1.
Barcelona traveled to Manchester City in February 2014, where they kept the home side off the scoresheet entirely, using a converted penalty by Lionel Messi and 90th-minute score by Dani Alves to win 2-0 and gain total control of the tie, making Barcelona’s 2-1 win at the Nou Camp mostly a formality.
But certainly if the two sides’ most recent league results are any indication, the situation could be very different this time around, making it all the more critical for fans to watch the game live online, or by any means necessary.
In a Saturday Barclays Premier League match, Manchester City plastered Newcastle at the Etihad 5-0, City’s largest margin of victory in a league game since March of last year.
“Defeats are harmful when you suffer them and they’re hard to get over,” said Barcelona manager Jose Enrique after the stunning loss. “We have a big challenge in three days and we will try to overcome it.”
That big challenge, of course, is Manchester City and their own Spanish superstar David Silva, whose brace on Saturday was one of many highlights for City.
Last year marked the first time that Manchester City had ever played a Champions League game beyond the group stage. Whatever jitters they may have suffered as a result should now be gone.
But will it matter against Barcelona, who have now qualified for the knockout rounds 11 years in a row? At the Round of 16 stage, Barcelona are 8-2 in those previous 10 appearances — and they have won the whole Champions League three times in that span, most recently in 2011.
