Oscars 2015: How To Throw The Ultimate Academy Awards Party

Throwing an Oscars party is the best way to celebrate your favorite movies and stars. Some of the biggest movie stars gather together to celebrate some of the best entertainment and acting in Hollywood at the annual Academy Awards. The celebrities shouldn’t be the only ones having fun on Sunday, Feb. 22. For those who can’t celebrate in L.A. this weekend, there are some tips to plan a last-minute soiree.

Decorations

Planning an Oscars party is all about having the right decorations. Swap out the photos of your friends and family with Academy-nominated actors. Headshots of any actor are just a Google search away, according to the New York Daily News.

You can also use a gold backdrop with white flower centerpieces and candles, according to Us Weekly. Gold place settings such as utensils, martini shakers and champagne glasses are also ideal ways to class up your Oscars party. You can also buy fake Oscars statues or awards at any party store.

Props

An actual red carpet may be hard to find at party stores or arts and craft stores. However, you can find some red fabric such as velvet or velour that you can cut and create into your own red carpet. A red bath mat or a few red towels can also work for the time being, says the Star-Tribune.

Use butcher paper to use to recreate the Academy Awards backdrop. Find a large cheering crowd and flashing bulbs soundtrack online to recreate the red carpet feel that’s seen on television. You can also use a friend that owns a professional camera to take photos of your guests in front of the backdrop as they enter your Oscars party.

Download ballots of nominees at CBS News so everyone can vote and join in on the fun, as recently reported by theInquisitr.

Red Carpet Style

The 2015 Oscars is all about the glamour. Ask your guests to dress up to the nines. This means tuxedos and evening gowns. If you’re going the classier route, “black and white always works regardless if you are wearing a tux or black jeans and a white T-shirt,” entertaining expert Cory Martin says. However, “if you are creating a specific theme then everyone will need to dress up as a character in the film.” For fun costumes ideas, check out PureSexyCostumes.com.

Food & Drink

You want your Oscars party to be fancy, but you also want award-winning snacks that will keep your guests happy. Use Hors d’Oeuvres like bacon-wrapped dates or celery stuffed with goat cheese. You also shouldn’t forget the popcorn, since Oscars night is all about the movies. Trevor Trujillo, snack connoisseur, suggests using plain pop corn and setting up a buffet table with toppings such as butter, stop, cheese, chocolate, caramel, mustard and Creole seasoning.

Cocktails are extremely important too. Why not celebrate the 87th Annual Academy Awards with some movie-themed drinks like The Grand Budapest Hotel champagne coupe or a Gone Girl shot glass? You can also impress your guests with these elegant black tie glasses, as suggested by ABC’s daytime show The Chew. This food and lifestyle show also has other party tips to make your Oscars party memorable.

Goodie Bags

You shouldn’t leave your guests empty handed. Hand out goodie bags at the end of your party, like they do at the Academy Awards. Some ideas include DVDs of nominated films, movie tickets, bath and beauty products, and Polaroid cameras with film.
