England and Scotland are preparing for an early clash in Match 14 of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, which will take place at the Hagley Oval Cristchurch in New Zealand. If you can’t be there in person to catch the match, don’t miss a minute of the action on the pitch by catching it streaming live online.
Both teams are looking for a victory, but England desperately needs one as they’ve already fallen to 0-2. In Match 2, Australia won by 111 runs and then in Match 9, New Zealand defeated England by eight wickets.
Scotland lost their only game so far when they were defeated by New Zealand by three wickets in Match 6.
The Telegraph reports that England just has so many senior players out of form, and it is believed by the masses that they could sink even lower against Scotland. With a good looking pitch, England’s loss to New Zeland is being called “as bad as I have seen in years.”
That horrible defeat by England means that Scotland now has hope in getting their first-ever victory in the Cricket World Cup. According to The Guardian, it was “an almighty embarrassment to the losing side and a dire disappointment for the spectators.”
Scotland’s assistant coach Paul Collingwood, a former all-rounder for England, knows what is at stake for both teams.
“You take it for granted as an England player – you’re always at the big tournaments. At the qualifying tournament the emotions were incredible. [The Scottish team] were literally playing for their jobs. With consequences like that you understand what real pressure is. In a way the pressure is off once you’ve reached the finals.”
The match between England vs. Scotland is scheduled to begin at 11:00 local time (22:00 GMT) on Monday, February 23, at the Hagley Oval Christchurch in New Zealand.
