Jessa Duggar And Ben Seewald Share Marriage Advice, Give Fans A Tour Of Their Home [Video]

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald have been living together for less than four months, but the newlywed 19 Kids and Counting stars are already dishing out marriage advice.

From the sounds of it, Ben Seewald is putting plenty of work into his marriage. Jessa Duggar hinted that she has a tendency to clam up whenever she’s angry or upset, and Ben has to gently convince her to open up about what’s bothering her.

“Ben is the best for sure at saying ‘Sweetheart, we need to talk about this’ if he senses I am irritated or upset about something,” Jessa recently told People. “It’s important not to turn away.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, one of the couple’s early marriage arguments has been over a surprising subject: Jessa Duggar’s weight. Jessa is a bit self-conscious, and she wants to look thinner. Unfortunately, her biological family members aren’t helping with her body image issues — Jordyn Duggar made Jessa feel even worse by recently telling her that she looks pregnant. Luckily, Ben Seewald is around to constantly reassure his wife that she looks great.

Ben told People that he just wants to make his Duggar princess happy.

“The most important thing is humility and putting the other person first,” he said. “I try to make that my perspective — I’m here to serve her and help her. What can I do to make her life easier?”

According to Jessa, she’s returning the favor by trying to talk to her husband more.

“It’s important not to build walls or turn away from hard topics,” she said. “The ‘I’m-going-to-show-you attitude’ really hurts. It’s always best to open up and talk about things.”

The couple is planning on starting a big family someday, so they’re making sure that they pay close attention to their finances. Jessa’s parents have always preached about the importance of avoiding debt, and it looks like the Seewalds have taken their advice to heart. According to Ben, some of their most important splurges are their twice-a-week date nights.

“Dates are investing in our marriage,” Seewald explained.

If Jessa Duggar and her husband want to have a lot of kids, they’ll definitely have to save up enough money for a new house. The couple recently gave People a tour of their starter home, and it’s pretty small for a Duggar — it’s the same two-bedroom house that Josh Duggar used to live in.
