One Direction Branded ‘Five No-Ones Who Won The Lottery’ By Kasabian

British Rock band Kasabian have lashed out at One Direction in a bizarre attack on the boy band’s credibility. According to the Daily Mail, Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan criticized the X Factor-made boy band at the NME Awards Wednesday night, after they picked up the Best Group and Best Album prizes.

Gigwise report that Meighan was talking to the Sun when he launched his amazing and unprovoked tirade against One Direction. Meighan slammed One Direction, claiming they are manufactured and lack any real musical soul. Admittedly, One Direction were manufactured on the 2010 season of Simon Cowell’s reality TV show The X-Factor.

“They’re f***ing millionaires but they’re five no-ones who won the lottery. They’re massive, but they’re a product, we’re not. They’re like shampoo. You buy it to put in your hair and wash it out, like the Spice Girls.”

According to the Irish Examiner, Meighan also predicted that One Direction will fall to pieces shortly.

“Thing is, they’ll all get angry with each other, fall out and do too many drugs. They’ll wanna be f**king arty and do something clever and they’ll break up.”

It isn’t clear why Kasabian are so down on One Direction, but there is a possibility that the hate is related to the fact that Kasabian have been snubbed for this year’s Brit Awards while One Direction are nominated for Best Group and British Video for “You And I.”

Kasabian Rant on One Direction

Tom Meighan’s bandmate, Serge Pizzorno, was similarly dismissive about his Kasabian being snubbed by the BRIT Awards.

“I’m gonna be at the beach somewhere, smoking great weed and drinking incredible rum cocktails, That’s much more than a consolation prize. It’s a winner.”

Kasabian were hailed as best British band at the NME Awards, and also scooped best album for 48:13 and best quote for guitarist Serge Pizzorno’s reaction to headlining Glastonbury when he said, “Five records, 10 years. We’ve earned our shot.”

While Kasabian were in London collecting their NME awards, One Direction are in Australia two weeks into an 80-date world tour. The Mirror reports that One Direction fans were sent into a panic yesterday as it was reported that Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik were stuck on Hamilton Island as terrifying Cyclone Marcia headed their way.

Panic stricken One Direction fans can now relax, knowing that the boys are safe, well and uninjured after the tropical storm passed by them. A source also told Daily Mail Australia that Zayn and Louis safely departed Hamilton Island on Friday afternoon via private jet.

One Direction fans in Perth were relieved to hear the news that their favorite boy band would still be performing in the city tonight, their final Australian date before the “On the Road Again” tour heads to Japan.
