Amid Julia Robert’s mother passing, she is in the middle of filming two movies. Will she take a short hiatus to mourn, or will she continue the films?
One of Julia’s movies, called The Secret In Their Eyes, is based on a novel by Eduardo Sacheri. It’s also a remake of a 2009-version of the movie. The storyline reads as follows.
“A retired legal counselor writes a novel hoping to find closure for one of his past unresolved homicide cases and for his unreciprocated love with his superior – both of which still haunt him decades later.”
Directed by Billy Ray and filmed in Los Angeles, Roberts’ movie and supporting cast has a lot of heavy-hitters on its roster. So, this is definitely a major film.
As far as the leading role, Julia is succeeded by Nicole Kidman. However, she didn’t always have the lead role, herself [Kidman]. At first, it belonged to Gwyneth Paltrow. It’s also noted on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) that Roberts’ part was originally written for a man. How’s that for a twist?
Adding to the twist, there are seven companies developing Julia’s film. For the production companies, there are (1) Gran Via Productions and (2) IM Global. Then, there are distribution endeavors which are serviced by (1) Inopia Films [Spain], (2) STX Entertainment and (3) Showtime Networks. The last time companies are for extras and camera equipment, yet, they’re just as quintessential to the effort. These are (1) Big Crowds and (2) Chapman/Leonard Studio Equipment.
Yet, interestingly enough, the second movie — Money Monster — has a well-to-do cast of actors and actresses as well. Two actors include Jack O’Connell and George Clooney.
Accordingly, the story seems worthwhile, and the summary reads as follows.
“Lee Gates is a TV personality whose insider tips have made him the money guru of Wall Street. When Kyle loses all of his family’s money on a bad tip, he holds Lee and his entire show hostage on air threatening to kill Lee if he does not get the stock up 24 and a half points before the bell. Ratings soar as the entire country tunes in to this media frenzy to find out just how much a man’s life is worth. Meanwhile, the hostage situation sheds light on a possible scandal involving the company in question. With elements of Dog Day Afternoon and Network, Money Monster is a very timely piece in these economic times”
Though she wasn’t mentioned in the summary, Roberts is playing the role of Nancy Fenn in this movie. And who is the director? Jodie Foster.
So, presumably, this is a lot on Julia’s mind at the moment — given what just happened with her mother. Though Roberts’ friends and family have been comforting her through this time of condolence and mourning, she may possibly need a little time.
According to the “Trivia” section of the site, it states as follows.
“This is the fourth collaboration between Julia Roberts and George Clooney–they previously co-starred in Oceans Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Clooney produced August: Osage County in which Roberts starred.”
So, what do you feel about it Julia Roberts’ situation? Do you empathize her mother’s passing? How do you feel about Julia taking or not taking a break?
