Val Chmerkovskiy Talks ‘DWTS’ Celeb Cast, Promises ‘Brand New Me’ For Season 20

Val Chmerkovskiy is gearing up his fans for season 20 of Dancing with the Stars. On Wednesday, Val tweeted a reminder for everyone to watch when the celebrity competitors for the upcoming season are announced on Good Morning America next Tuesday. Val also wrote that he thinks that the upcoming season will be one people will “thoroughly enjoy.”

Seee a brand new me. #soinspired,” he added.

Val’s tweet prompted some to assume that he has already met his celeb partner. Val later clarified that he has yet to meet his partner and that he has no idea who she is.

If Val is even better on season 20 than he was on season 19, he may very well win the trophy. Last season, he reached the finals with actress Janel Parrish. Val’s chemistry with Janel both on and off the dance floor led to intense speculation as to whether they were dating or if they were just putting on a “showmance” for votes.

On October 2014, Val Chmerkovskiy, in an interview with Glamour, denied dating Janel Parrish.

“We’re not dating. Maybe the press reserves the right to ask these questions, but I’m a professional, and I’m on a dance show. I don’t want to undermine my profession that I’ve devoted 20 years to…I don’t want that to be overshadowed by dating rumors. We’re not dating. I want Janel to be great…I care about her because she’s my partner and my priority on and off the dance floor.”

Val’s statement didn’t stop the speculation. As the Inquisitr later reported, the dating rumors just heated up after they kissed during a performance.

When Val returns back to the Dancing with the Stars dance floor, he won’t be seeing long-time pros Karina Smirnoff, Derek Hough and Cheryl Burke.

Right before the pros for season 20 were announced, Karina Smirnoff revealed that she decided to not return to the show in order to focus on other endeavors.

As reported by Entertainment Tonight in mid-January, Derek Hough will be skipping just the 20th season because he’ll be starring in New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. Yet he didn’t rule out the possibility of making an appearance or two on the upcoming season of the dance competition.

“I’ll always want to be a part of Dancing with the Stars, it’s like my family and even be a part of this season in any way that I can. If I have any time, I would love to make something happen.”

As for Cheryl Burke, she told People in December 2014 that she will instead be seen on a new variety show on NBC. She admitted that she wanted to do other things on DWTS but wasn’t given the opportunity. Perhaps she was gunning to become a judge?

Joining Val Chmerkovskiy as a Dancing with the Stars season 20 pro are Mark Ballas, Kym Johnson, Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Artem Chigvintsev, Val Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Allison Holker, Peta Murgatroyd, and Emma Slater. Season 2 premieres March 16th.
