Is Kanye West Trying To Save Face With Taylor Swift Publicity Stunt?

Kanye West has become the most vilified name in music. He is more vilified than Michael Jackson was when he was alive. He is more vilified than Madonna was during her SEX era (and even now). The vilification of Kanye West has doubled ever since he almost interrupted the Grammy Awards to insist that Beyoncé deserved the Album of the Year trophy more than Beck. According to the Huffington Post, even John Legend had to distance himself from Kanye’s ego after initially seeming to support it.

“‘When I said that was funny and people should lighten up about it, that’s what I meant. I wasn’t referring to Kanye’s comments after the show which I have now seen and heard. I disagree with those comments. Beck is indeed a true artist’s artist. He’s a multi-instrumentalist, a creative and unique singer-songwriter whose music I have bought and enjoyed over the years.'”

Now, it appears that Kanye West is trying to be a “good sport” by going out to dinner with Taylor Swift, an artist he trashed in 2009 for having the guts to get an award he thought Beyoncé deserved. Us Magazine describes Kanye West‘s attempts to get back into the good graces of the general public.

“Drop the mic, it happened! Kanye West and Taylor Swift have officially, totally, definitely put their 2009 MTV VMAs beef behind them — the two former enemies broke bread together in New York City on Tuesday, Feb. 17. The two artists braved the cold and dined at The Spotted Pig, and were photographed exiting the West Village gastropub. A source tells US Weekly that rapper West reached out to set up the meal.”

Several people on Twitter and other social media outlets can see right through the stunt.

According to Hollywood Life, Kanye West and Taylor Swift are even going to record a duet.

“Will Kanye West record a duet with Taylor Swift? In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, the rapper said, ‘yeah,’ when asked if he would collaborate with the country/pop singer. ‘She wants to get in the studio and we’re definitely going to go in,’ he said.”

Many people think that joining Kanye West would put a dent in Swift’s career, especially since West’s record sales have been dying down lately. His last album, Yeezus, was considered a huge flop and he appears to align himself with more respectable stars such as Paul McCartney and Rihanna in order to score hits. Is Kanye West over with?
