‘Sister Wives’ Challenges Conventional Marriage: Polygamist Patriarch’s Two-Hour Tell-All Spoilers [Video]

TLC has produced its share of warm, fuzzy reality TV shows such as Kate and Jon Plus Eight, but now with Sister Wives, the network also is producing its own share of controversy even among the cast members. Polygamist patriarch Kody Brown and Meri made a joint decision to divorce, according to the Brown family, but TLC issued a dissenting statement, according to Us Weekly.

Picked up for another season, Sister Wives will include a two-hour finale. TLC offered a few tidbits (spoiler alert).

“In the season finale, additional details emerge that add clarity to Meri’s decision to divorce Kody, and the family’s decision to take the additional step of Robyn marrying Kody.”

But is Meri, who is Kody’s first wife, happy about the decision to divorce Kody, and what does her future hold?

Roll back the clock to early February, when viewers learned that Kody had actually divorced Meri last fall. He waited only a few months before jumping into a legal marriage with Robyn, who currently ranks as his youngest wife.

So why is the show called Sister Wives if Kody is legally married to only one woman at a time? Kody considers himself spiritually married to all four wives, which includes 42-year-old Christine and 45-year-old Janelle.

The Brown family did offer a statement seeking to explain all the break-ups and make-ups.

“We have chosen to legally restructure our family. We made this decision together as a family. We are grateful to our family, friends and fans for all their love and support.”

If you want to watch all the drama, TLC will broadcast the season finale of Sister Wives on March 1. The tell-all will air after.

As to why Kody decided to swap wives, TMZ reports that it was for the children. However, Meri remains as one of the “sisters.” But with Robyn as his legal wife, Kody can ensure that her children are provided with benefits such as insurance.

So is Sister Wives alone in revealing a family with such a strong, in-charge patriarch?

A newer show, Chrisley Knows Best, may be in the running with its “dad-ager” Todd Chrisley, as the Inquisitr reported.

Built along the lines of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and its “momager” Kris Jenner, Chrisley Knows Best highlights the family of multimillionaire Todd.

Others in the colorful clan include the five children (Chase, Kyle, Savannah, Lindsie, and Grayson) and two grandchildren, along with Todd’s patient wife, Julie. One of the grandchildren, 2-year-old Chloe, lives with the family. And while Todd only has one wife, the rivalry for his attention at times equals that of Kody and his “sister wives.”
