Ellen DeGeneres Pokes Fun At Al Roker, Shows Him Wearing Nipple Tassels
Last week, the “Photoshopped” segment in Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show poked fun at Matt Lauer and his interview with Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan. The video showed a doctored image of Lauer wearing straps and chains and brandishing a whip and cuffs. The video was hit and immediately went viral, and was even talked about at the Today show. “People actually thought you came to work dressed like that or changed at some point into that ensemble,” Tamron Hall told Lauer during a recent episode.

And now, it seems Ellen is at it again. She released another edited footage on her show, and this time her target was veteran weatherman Al Roker. “Here’s a clip from this morning’s Today show. It’s totally real,” DeGeneres joked while introducing the fake video. She then showed edited footage of the Today show’s weather report with Roker sporting bondage gear.
“Real! One hundred percent real,” Ellen DeGeneres said after showing the clip. “They seem to be riding up his cheeks or something.” The co-hosts of the Today show watched the clip to get Roker’s reaction on the prank. Savannah Guthrie quipped, “Just to be clear Al, you were not wearing that right?” Roker, who proved to be a good sport, joked that there “was a little chafing” going on during the segment.
Carson Daly, the Today show’s social media correspondent, revealed that the body double in the clip was in fact a production assistant in Daly’s other show, the Voice. Roker joked, “LL Cool J actually doubled me.”
Ellen DeGeneres has been poking fun at Fifty Shades of Grey since last year, with the host even appearing as heroine Anastasia Steele in a spoof of the film’s trailer. The latest skits with Al Roker and Matt Lauer are only the latest in her Fifty Shades of Grey-related jokes.
The film version of Fifty Shades of Grey had a successful opening weekend. However, it had its fair share of controversy over the source material’s treatment of bondage and sadomasochistic relationships. Despite the film’s successful opening weekend, it’s considered a critical failure, with negative reviews and two star ratings in both IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes.
Fifty Shades of Grey is an adaptation of E.L. James’ erotic novel of the same name. The story follows Anastasia Steele as she starts a relationship with business magnate Christian Grey. It is only the first part of a trilogy that also includes Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.
