Woman Beaten Wedding Night: Groom Enraged When Wedding Dress Wouldn’t Come Off, Beats New Wife
A woman was beaten on her wedding night when her groom couldn’t get her wedding dress off. According to The SpreadIt, Gavin Golightly and his bride, Amy Dawson, said their “I do’s” at St Mary’s Church in West Rainton, in the UK. They celebrated their marriage with family and friends before heading back to Beamish Hall, the hotel where they planned to spend their wedding night. What happened next is unimaginable.

Amy and Gavin were unwinding from their amazing day, but while getting undressed, something went wrong. For some reason, Gavin couldn’t get Amy’s wedding gown off. Instead of having a bit of a laugh, and figuring out a solution, Gavin reportedly got violent, and he started punching his wife in the face.
“When he lashed out at me on my wedding night, I thought I was going to die. I was terrified. He looked like he was going to kill me. After the attack, he left the room and I tried to escape, but he came back in and continued to beat me. Eventually, I escaped and found a hotel porter, who called the police. It was such a lovely day, and I was devastated it ended the way it did. It was a huge celebration full of friends and family, and I thought it would have been the fresh start we needed,” Amy explained.
The woman beaten on her wedding night admitted that her husband had a history of abuse. She married him because he was caring, and while she might have been willing to overlook his temper, she finally decided to leave him. Dawson filed for divorce shortly after she married Golightly.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Golightly was charged with assault and is currently serving a 12-month community service order after pleading guilty. Some say that his punishment was far too lenient.
A judge ordered a restraining order against Golightly that should keep him from going near his soon-to-be ex-wife. According to the Canada Journal, the couple has a child together. It is unknown if Dawson applied for custody of the child, or if she will allow her ex to see the child.
When Golightly was asked about the wedding night beating, he says that he remembers nothing, and claims that his drink must have been spiked with something. Meanwhile Dawson suffered cuts and bruises, but she is expected to be okay.
