‘Justified’ Spoilers: Ava Spins Out Of Control, The Return Of Constable Bob

Last week on Justified, Ava (Joelle Carter) felt the noose tightening around her neck, as Katherine Hale (Mary Steenburgen) invited her to a friendly lunch with the not-so-friendly implied threat at the end. It looked like things couldn’t get much worse for Ava, but she seems hell-bent on sabotaging herself even more this week. What is going through that girl’s head?

Here are a few teasers for tonight’s episode of Justified.

If you’ve seen the preview clip from FX, you already know we’re in for the return of a couple of characters from previous seasons tonight: Limehouse (Mykelti Williamson) and Constable Bob (Patton Oswalt). Ironically, Oswalt’s return comes after a recent interview on Conan O’Brien with Justified star Timothy Olyphant, where he said there was only one “D-bag” he had worked with on the set of the show. Olyphant wouldn’t name names, but told Conan it was someone who had been on his talk show. Then Conan responded that the only person from Justified who had appeared besides Olyphant was Oswalt.

Guess the cat is out of the bag on that one. Oopsy.

Anyway, Raylan (Olyphant) asks for Constable Bob’s help tonight in tracking down his wayward CI. In other words, his snitch. In other words, Miss Ava, after she goes into a full meltdown and tries to make herself some more enemies. Like being caught between the police, her fiance’s outlaw gang, and the heavy hitting thugs that gang is facing off against isn’t enough trouble for one little country gal from Harlan, Kentucky.

In case you have been wondering where Ava’s kin have been hiding through more than five seasons of Justified, we finally get to meet part of her clan tonight. That means a new character this season along with the introduction of Garrett Dillahunt and the fantastic Sam Elliott. If you are a hardcore Justified fan who follows casting news, you should have a pretty good idea who plays Ava’s uncle. And he’s the kind of actor you don’t just put in a quick, one-time cameo, so he should be playing some kind of pivotal role in this final season.

A few other mild Justified spoilers include Choo Choo (Duke Davis Roberts) showing he isn’t quite as dumb as you think, and some of the best comedic moments come tonight with Wynn Duffy’s (Jere Burns) understated deadpan expressions. Let’s just say Duffy won’t be opening any daycare centers any time in the near future. And he has infinite patience at times with lower functioning life forms. After this episode, the hot trending tag may be #Aplex.

Justified airs on FX Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET.
