9 Year Old Escapes Kidnapper/Molester [Video]

Calysta Cordova is safe and back with her parents after an attempted kidnapping last week. Calysta was reported missing last Thursday night after she didn’t come home from school. The police in Peublo, Colorado issued an alert and immediately began searching for her.

The man who had taken her, Jose Garcia, had some car trouble and he and Calysta got a hitch to the closest Gas Station, a Circle K. When they got to the Circle K, Calysta did exactly as her mother had always instructed her to do. She ran into the store and called 911. Jose Garcia took off to avoid being caught.

Jose Garcia was apprehended later Friday afternoon by Colorado Springs Police. He is wanted in another molestation case.

Efren Vialpando told The Gazette that Caluysta had come running into the store with two black eyes and a fat lip and told him that she is not leaving with Garcia.

She told Vialpando,

“I ain’t going nowhere. I’m waiting for my momma.”

A Circle K employee declined to comment, citing store policy.

Calysta was taken to the hospital Friday and reunited with her parents. Because of her age we cannot report on her current mental state or condition.

Calysta’s parents had always taught her that if she is grabbed by a stranger to try to run and call 911. Calysta didn’t hesitate when given the chance and it may have saved her life.

Do you think Calysta Cordova’s parents should be given a medal for teaching their daughter what to do in these situations?
