Fans of Bangladesh and Afghanistan need prepare for match 7 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 as it will soon be taking place, there is a lot of excitement in the air. The clash between the two teams has fans ready for a big-time battle and if you can’t be there in person, catch it streaming live online.
This is Afghanistan’s first time competing in the Cricket World Cup, and they’re accustomed to the Canberra pitch. ABC.net.au reports that they visited there in September for two pre-tournament matches.
Afghanistan captain Mogammad Nabi says that there are a lot of supporters for the team competing in the Cricket World Cup.
“Everyone is excited…for the start of the tournament. Hopefully we’ll win that match (against Bangladesh).”
On the other side of the pitch, Bangladesh has not played in an international game for two-and-a-half-months, but they are putting in extra effort for Afghanistan. Except for Tamim Iqbal, who is nursing a bad knee injury, the Bangladesh batsmen all had long stints in the side nets against both pace and spin.
Masharafe Mortaza is known to be quite injury-prone, but he bowled off a few paces at the start of practice, and only grabbed at his should a few times. He did have a short batting stint, but the hope is that he will be healthy enough for the match.
Afghanistan will have to watch out, most of all, for Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh as he is the number one all-rounder in all three formats of Cricket. This is not something the team is unaware of and Bangladesh is proud of the fact.
“We’ve got the No.1 all-rounder in all formats of the game… he’s a key player for us, I’m expecting him to perform and take a lead role and lead us from the front,” Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha said.
Bangladesh and Afghanistan are set to begin their match at 14:30 local time and 3:30 GMT on Wednesday, February 18 at the Manuka Oval, Canberra.
