‘SNL40’ Audition Clips Show Kevin Hart, Jim Carrey, Stephen Colbert, And Zack Galifianakis Not Making The Cut [Video]

This “SNL40”: Audition Montage Features Big Stars Who Didn’t Make the Cut video shows some of the Saturday Night Live elite in their most vulnerable positions as they auditioned for the SNL show at various points throughout their careers. There’s Jimmy Fallon doing his best Jerry Seinfeld impression, and Jay Pharoah performing his flawless Denzel Washington rendition. But some surprises show up in the “SNL40” audition clips as well, like Kevin Hart doing a routine that obviously didn’t get Hart the job. Seeing as though the Sony email hacking revealed that Hart was potentially paid as much as $2 million for a single tweet to publicize movies, as reported by the Inquisitr, Kevin missing out on an SNL role probably isn’t keeping Hart up at night.

Other SNL alumni that did experience successful auditions are shown in the clip as well, like Leslie Jones, who appeared in earlier SNL scenes wearing a lovely black dress. Tracy Morgan also appeared in the audition SNL montage, looking a lot heftier than in later years. Dana Carvey, Kristen Wiig, Phil Hartman, Laraine Newman, Gilda Radner, and plenty more folks — including Jimmy Fallon, a guy who is winning praise on Twitter for his cold opener on the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary special, after joining his friend, Justin Timberlake, in a run down of the most popular catchphrases and SNL songs. In the SNL opening, Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake performed everything from Wayne and Garth’s “schwing” line to Timberlake’s own “D*** in a box” video snippet.

If not seen on the stage or in video retrospectives, plenty of celebrities could be seen in the SNL audience, because they were out in full force for SNL‘s 40th anniversary bash, reports the New York Post. Overall, the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary audition clip provided a behind-the-scenes peek at audition videos that the SNL audience rarely gets to see — making us privy to the process that unveiled huge stars throughout the decades.

New revelations are revealed via those SNL audition clips and leaked info, like the fact that Bill Hader was flummoxed by some strange man draped in props that turned out to be Andy Samberg in the elevator, reports the Hollywood Reporter. Dana Carvey performed his famous “Choppin’ Broccoli” routine, as Kristen Wiig went whole hog with her Target lady persona. Lots of impromptu characterizations were displayed in the auditions, as well as off-the-cuff routines from Kevin Hart, Jim Carrey, Stephen Colbert, and Zack Galifianakis.
