Lena Headey Will Welcome Baby Number 2

A heartfelt congratulations for Lena Headey.

The 41-year-old actress best known for her critically acclaimed role in the blockbuster series Game of Thrones is expecting her second child.

Headey confirmed the news in a statement to People Magazine.

“I’m happy to confirm that I’m having my second child this summer.”

Headey finally went public with the news after paparazzi captured pictures of the actress with a visible baby bump. It seems British tabloids have previously speculated that Lena Headey might be pregnant, but her reps had declined to comment. Headey’s statement to People Magazine included a gracious, but firm, request to photographers and paparazzi to back off.

“I only hope that this announcement can help me to regain some of the privacy I have recently lost to prying photographers and ask that they please respect my privacy and let me enjoy this time.”

Headey has played the woman everyone loves to hate, Cersei Lannister, on Game of Thrones since its first season. The fiercely loyal fans of Game of Thrones wasted no time in taking to social media to show their support for Headey.

[Warning: Potential Spoilers Ahead]

The fifth season of Game of Thrones premieres April 12, and Headey will reprise her role when the action kicks off. According to Headey, the Cersei Lannister fans see in Season 5 will be a woman losing control, and visibly showing signs of wear. Headey spoke with the Daily Beast about what’s in store for Cersei in Season 5, but warning, there are spoilers.

“…I don’t know how they’re going to write her reaction to Tywin’s death, but I’m sure there’s going to be some sort of celebration for her in it. But Tywin’s also given her the knowledge that the Lannisters are pretty much broke, so I think she’s overwhelmed with it all.”

One event that will absolutely be on deck for Lena Headey and Cersei Lannister in Season 5 of Game of Thrones is Cersei’s penance walk. The walk required Headey to walk out of the Church of St. Nicohlas and onto the streets of Dubrovnik, Croatia, which doubles for King’s Landing, naked. The Croatian government was initially reluctant to allow the scene to be filmed, but a change of venue allowed the scene to go through, albeit with heavy security to keep the footage under wraps.
