Man Allegedly Raped, Beat Girlfriend’s Toddler Son To Death Over Soiled Diaper, Picks Her Up From Work With Corpse In Backseat

Corey Gordon, 28, has been accused of brutally beating and raping his girlfriend’s toddler son, Khyese Anthony Coach, to death. According to the Sun Sentinel, on Monday, Feb. 9, Gordon’s girlfriend, Chantel Haye, started a new job, so the child was left in his care. The child was reportedly dropped off around 5:30 a.m. However, Haye stated that she did not speak with Gordon until after 9:00 a.m., so it is unclear when the brutal beating took place.

At some point during the day, the little boy soiled his diaper and left a stain on the furniture. Gordon reportedly became furious and beat the child with an object. Then, to make matters worse, he put the bruised and battered child’s lifeless body in the backseat of the car and went to pick up his girlfriend from work around 3:45 p.m.

When Haye got into the car, she noticed her son was unresponsive and his body was cold. She immediately questioned Gordon. He admitted that he’d slapped the child, but wouldn’t explain in detail what happened. He drove his girlfriend to Broward Health Coral Springs, dropped her off with the child, and fled. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office also released a statement about the shocking incident.

“Corey Gordon began to cry and stated there was a problem with Khyese. Haye demanded that he rush her to the hospital. He left her at Coral Springs Medical Center around 5 p.m. and fled.”

He was reportedly on the run until Tuesday night, when he was arrested by fugitive detectives with a Broward County SWAT unit, reported the New York Daily News. Hospital staff specified that the child had injuries to his “his chest, stomach, legs and head.”

The Department of Children and Families incident report indicated that the child had been severely beaten hours before he was transported to the hospital. Based on his temperature at the time he made it to the hospital, hospital staff speculated that the child may have already been dead for “at least four hours.” However, that’s not all. The incident report also revealed noted the child had “anal tearing and blood in his diaper and thus sexual abuse is possibly suspected.”

Although Gordon’s, Gawane Grant, attorney insists his actions weren’t intentional, the child’s grandmother, Glenda Haye, says otherwise. During a recent interview with CBS-4, she shared details about some of the injuries the child sustained. She also revealed that her grandson feared Gordon and told her he’d been punched in the stomach just days before he was beaten to death, reports Miami Herald.

“She look at his stomach and there was bruises all over his stomach and like he punch him in his temple… He beat him up so bad… I imagine him crying out for help.”

According to NBC Miami, it has also been reported that the child was vomiting, which could indicate that he suffered internal bleeding. Gordon also tried to blame his girlfriend by insisting that the child was already bruised when he picked him up that morning. However, the Department of Children and Families has cleared Chantel Haye. Broward County Medical Examiners have ruled the child’s death a homicide.

Corey Gordon has been charged with first-degree murder. He is currently being held without bond at the Broward County Jail.
