Koo Stark Defends Prince Andrew, Calls Former Lover ‘A Good Man’

Prince Andrew has a new defender against allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with an underage woman. Koo Stark, the royal’s former lover, wrote a piece in the Daily Mail this weekend that gave intimate details about her time with Prince Andrew. Stark claims the man she knew is incompatible with the man portrayed by Virginia Roberts in U.S. court documents.

Stark and the prince dated for 18 months in the early 1980s before he married Sarah Ferguson. Despite the short courtship, the two have remained close friends. The U.S.-born actress claims that the media got the facts of their relationship wrong, including when and how they met, implying that the press is doing the same in the Virginia Roberts case.

Stark also points to several character traits of Prince Andrew’s that she says contradict Ms. Roberts’ accounts. The royal had manners, never drank alcohol, and preferred older women. Stark notes that both she and Sarah Ferguson are older than the prince, who is 54.

She also stated her reasons for coming forward now to talk about the man who is the godfather to one of her children.

“He was being accused of the very worst kind of behaviour. The stain on his reputation is spilling across his life like blood from a new wound.

“I know too much about the media and the law courts to allow the disgrace of an innocent man. That is why I have decided to now reveal some of the details of my relationship with Andrew. Most people in this country have formed their own impression of him – either good or ill. My view is clear: I believe him to be a good man.”

As Koo Stark has remained close with Prince Andrew, so has his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the Duke and Duchess recently bought a chalet together despite the many years since their divorce. The royals, who have two daughters, called it a “family investment.” The property is reportedly split into two separate living areas.

Shortly after the purchase was made public, the Daily Mail, which is the same publication that this weekend published Koo Stark’s first-person defense of Prince Andrew, asked questions about the royal finances.

Legal documents in the Virginia Roberts case include a letter addressed to the prince, asking that he appear for a two-hour interview on the legal matter. Roberts is suing because her interests were not taken into account when U.S. authorities reached a plea deal with billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
