Hoops fanatics can watch the 2015 NBA All Star Game live online, as Lebron James leads the Eastern Conference All Stars into New York City’s Madison Square Garden to face the best of the Western Conference Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. EST. A link for streaming video of the 64th annual game is provided below.
The Western Conference All Star team was originally supposed to have featured Okalahoma Thunder superstar Kevin Durant, but Durant will sit out the game due to an injury and West coach Steve Kerr has not yet made an official announcement about who will replace him in the all-star starting lineup.
The San Antonio Spurs Tim Duncan or the Dallas Mavericks Dirk Nowitzki are considered prime candidates to step into Durant’s slot. Both are now scheduled to start the game on the Western Conference bench. Duncan would most likely play restricted minutes if he is tapped as a starter, however.
Watching the NBA All Star Game live online may be the best chance for most fans to get a close-up view of their favorite players. Though the game, and in fact, the entire five-day All-Star “weekend,” are essentially a giant advertisement for the league, tickets for most events including the game itself were not on sale to the general public.
The 2015 game marks the fifth straight year that the NBA has shut its most loyal fans out of the All Star Game, as well as from the Slam Dunk Contest held the night before, according to The New York Times.
Only ticket reseller sites such as StubHub make tickets available to the public the Times reported, and prices on those sites are heavily inflated, with NBA All Star Game tickets topping $2,000.
But by logging on to the live online streaming video offered by TNT, fans will see these NBA superstars take the court for the two All Star teams:
East starters will be, in addition to the Cleveland Cavaliers Lebron James, the host New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony, Paul Gasol of the Chicago Bulls, John Wall of the Washington Wizards and Kyle Lowry of the Toronto Raptors.
West starters, other than Durant, will be the Memphis Grizzlies’ Marc Gasol, Klay Thompson of the conference-leading Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry who also plays for the Warriors and James Harden of the Houston Rockets.
