Miley Cyrus Goes ‘Happy Hippie’ For Charity And Ariana Grande Joins Her

Miley Cyrus is not all about that tongue, latex clothing, and twerking, it seems. She has a great charitable streak too. In fact, since the 2014 VMAs, when Cyrus brought formerly homeless youth Jesse Helt as her partner, she has been getting involved to fight injustice, including youth homelessness.

According to MTV News, while some might think Miley has been lying around doing nothing after completing her Bangerz tour, it turns out she has been very busy behind the scenes. Now things are really coming together for her Happy Hippie Foundation and other stars are joining the cause.

Twitter was alive this week with Laura Jane Grace from Against Me, Cody Simpson, Joan Jett, and Ariane Grande sending messages of support, 140 characters at a time. They’ve also been posting to Instagram to promote the Happy Hippie Foundation, which Miley started up in September 2014.

Among many other supportive messages, Grande sent a message on Instagram thanking Miley Cyrus.

“thaaannk u @mileycyrus @happyhippiefdn for having me be a part of somethinnnnn so beautiful. here’s to raising awareness and stopping as much judgment, labeling, and unkindness as we cannnnn!!! u are beautifulll @mileycyrus.”

She also posted a message on Twitter.

When Miley let her formerly homeless date, Jesse Helt, accept her award for Video of the Year, he gave a moving speech.

“My name is Jesse and I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now.

“I know this because I am one of these people.”

The speech sparked off quite a few tears and then Miley’s movement was born. At the time, Cyrus was promoting awareness for My Friend’s Place, the homeless organization where she met Helt, this inspired her to make something bigger with Happy Hippie. She has also apparently named her art collection “Dirty Hippie” so the trend is likely to continue.

At this stage, Happy Hippie is launching events like great backyard concerts and donating the proceeds to various projects for the homeless. As more celebrities join Miley Cyrus in her cause, things are likely to grow. Buzzfeed is reporting that there should be some video of the Happy Hippie concerts soon.

While she is busy with her foundation, it seems Miley Cyrus has plenty of time for her love life too, as the Inquisitr notes that Patrick Schwarzenegger has her wrapped around his little finger.
