Presidents’ Day Freebies And Deals: Find Bargains Galore During Three-Day Weekend


Presidents’ Day weekend is a big deal for shoppers who will be out in force looking for bargains on clothing, furniture, appliances, and perhaps a few free food deals along the way. Although the federal holiday is officially observed on February 16, most retailers have sales running throughout the three-day weekend.

While there aren’t as many freebies available this weekend as there are on Veteran’s Day or Black Friday, you can still snag a free cup of hot or iced coffee from Chick-fil-A (no purchase necessary) to keep you caffeinated while you shop. Need a dose of sugar with that cup of java? Download the Taco Bell app on your smartphone and get a free four-pack of Cinnabon Delights when you buy a Cinnabon Delights Coffee. Walk off the calories at one of 405 national parks — admission is free February 14–16.

Retail stores like Old Navy, GAP, Target, Kohl’s, and Macy’s are already starting to stock spring clothing, so Presidents’ Day weekend is a great time to score a deal on winter clothing. You may be sick of wearing boots, sweaters, and heavy coats, but with savings up to 80 percent off the original price, it’s a great time to stock up for next winter.

Not all deals are in-store — many retailers are offering bargains online with free shipping included. Best bets? According to Kiplinger, Presidents’ Day is a great time to find deals on electronic, including laptops, TVs, cameras, and tablets.

“Expect to see discounts on a variety of electronics at merchants such as Best Buy, Newegg and TigerDirect, she says. And Dell, Office Depot and Staples should offer deals such as $50 off entire purchases.”

With tax refunds already making it into many taxpayers’ bank accounts, new furniture may be on the shopping list this weekend. Offers.com states that Presidents’ Day is a great time to buy a new mattress (as much as 70 percent off) and update the furniture for your home at retailers like Raymour & Flanagan, Overstock, JCPenney, and even Target.

Appliances are typically a good buy during the month of February, so take a peek at the Home Depot and Lowe’s ads if you are in the market for a new washing machine, stove, or refrigerator.
