Katy Perry And Taylor Swift Rule Billboard ‘Artist 100’ Chart
This week, Katy Perry roars into No. 6 on Billboard‘s Artist top 100 chart, scoring her biggest week yet. Billboard talks about Katy Perry‘s latest achievement.
“Despite having ranked on the Billboard Artist 100 for all 32 weeks of the chart’s existence, Katy Perry reaches a new peak this week, flying 12-6. Her vault is no surprise, given she claimed two of the most high-profile live performances an artist can make: the Super Bowl Halftime Show and the Grammy Awards.”
Taylor Swift is No. 1 on the list for the 16th week in a row — this is the most weeks lodged at number one for any artist. However, there is so much hype around Katy Perry that Swift may be replaced as early as next week. Perry has been keeping a high profile in the music world lately and the “Roar” singer recently told E News how God spoke to her before her Super Bowl performance.
“I over prepared myself and did a lot of prayer and meditation. It’s funny, I was praying and I got a word from God and He says, ‘You got this and I got you.’ And then I was on top of the lion and a guy, a random guy, just looked on me with a headset that I’ve never communicated with before and he just looked me straight in the eyes and said, ‘You got this.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, this is God confirming I can do this'”
Katy Perry received outstanding reviews for her Super Bowl performance. The New York Times described how Katy Perry blew away the Super Bowl audience.
“During her 12 or so minutes on the University of Phoenix Stadium field on Sunday, she held her own, navigating a handful of her smashes and three wardrobe changes in a performance that resisted bad mood, spanning all of Ms. Perry’s modes”
The Dallas Morning News praised Katy Perry for giving the Super Bowl audience exactly what they wanted.
“Call Katy Perry’s halftime show whatever you want; just don’t call it lackluster. The 30-year-old pop star poured everything she and Pepsi could afford into her thrill-a-minute set, including wacky, spectacular visuals and a three-song-medley from a forward-thinking hip-hop legend. Oh, and Perry grinded on Lenny Kravitz while he belted ‘I Kissed a Girl.'”
