‘Game of Thrones’ Restaurant Opens, But It’s Only For A Limited Time

A Game of Thrones-themed restaurant has opened in London, but it will only be for the February 13-15 weekend.

According to the Associated Press, via CBS News, the restaurant is called All Men Must Dine, and it was opened to commemorate the Season 4 DVD release of Game of Thrones. Winners selected from a contest will be served a 10-course meal throughout the weekend, and each item of food is inspired by some of the courses seen or discussed about on the popular HBO show.

Chef Jamie Hazeel, who co-owns a catering company called The Wandering Chef, is one of the creators of this Game of Thrones-themed temporary restaurant. A fan of the show, Hazeel said there was some difficulty in trying to recreate some of the meals featured on the show. One of those was the traitor’s tongue and smoked serpent.

“Python is a bit of a tricky meat. So we’re using smoked eel instead.”

One of the courses mentioned in Games of Thrones is called a honeyed fowl. For this, Hazeel took a quail, glazed in honey and lemon, and then stuffed it with almonds, apricots, and sultanas.

“Honeyed fowl is a big thing in the show, the taste of luxury. I wanted to recreate what I thought the taste of honeyed fowl would be.”

Hazeel added that there are some rather unique items on the menu as well, including honey-fried locusts and poached calf tongue.

“[Some of the items] may be slightly off-putting to a modern audience.”

It’s not just the food that was inspired by Game of Thrones. The entire atmosphere was created to give fans that feel like they were actually dining in the show. Flags symbolizing the Barethon and Lannister clans hang in what used to be a Masonic temple, and candles provide lighting for the area. Fans are also treated to live entertainment, which includes a pair of jesters singing “Incest is Best.”

Hannah Ellis-Petersen from the Guardian was one of those fans who got a firsthand experience of the Game of Thrones-themed restaurant. Petersen writes that this restaurant is not for everyone.

“This was not to be a feast for the faint-hearted, nor one that tolerated any modern food fussiness. Vegetarians, vegans, fruitarians, those intolerant to wheat, dairy, insects or food doused in flames and dry ice were not welcome at this table.”

And with Season 4 of Game of Thrones releasing to DVD, that means Season 5 will soon start. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, said a lot will happen in the new season.

“There’s some massive moments, perhaps even more shocking than the Red Wedding type of thing. There’s like a lot going on this season. There’s also, you know, a lot of blood, a lot of death. And a lot of people kind of come far. And there are a few familiar faces around as well.”
