Many people probably do not recognize that name right off the bat. However, chances are that they would recognize her face. That is, of course, if they are staring at her face nearly 13 years ago.
That was when young Alyson Stoner made her appearance in Missy Elliott’s music video for her 2002 hit single, “Work It.”
In addition to “Work It,” young Alyson Stoner also impressed fans and critics alike when she showed up as one of Missy Elliott’s dancers in the popular music video for another hit single, “Gossip Folk.”
Alyson Stoner was able to use her dancing talent in a big career move from the small-screen music video to the big-screen movie in the 2006 dance film, Step Up, starring Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum.
When Missy Elliott surprised millions of fans by appearing on stage with singer Katy Perry for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, quite a few people felt that Alyson Stoner was the missing piece of the performance — especially when “Work It” was played.
Even though Alyson did not appear on that stage, she apparently wanted to honor Missy Elliott and show that she still can bust a move on the dance floor.
The 21-year-old dancer and actress put together this impressive dance video that is full of familiar choreography that Missy’s fans will quickly remember.
In an interview with BuzzFeed, when asked to describe Missy Elliott in one word, Alyson Stoner simply said “legendary.”
