Norman Reedus recently opened up about Daryl Dixon’s love life on The Walking Dead, and what he had to say might upset Caryl shippers just a bit. However, Dixonne fans have a reason to celebrate.
Many fans of The Walking Dead are convinced that Daryl Dixon will eventually hook up with Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride). However, during an interview for Entertainment Weekly‘s Sirius radio show, Norman Reedus explained why he thinks this romance shouldn’t happen.
“It’s become such a big deal, who I hook up with on the show. In real life, when you hook up with someone and it’s real, you don’t see it coming, so I don’t want to see it coming.”
Obviously a predictable Caryl romance isn’t want Norman Reedus wants for Daryl Dixon. Reedus also talked about how he thinks a Dixon hook up will go down, and he said that his Walking Dead character probably won’t be the one doing the wooing whenever the right girl comes along.
“I think if he’s going to zero in on one, it’s going to happen by accident, and he’s not going to be the one zeroing in first. Then he’ll just stay with her. I think he’s like an eagle — once they start flying together, they’ll always fly together.”
Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier might not be meant to be, but Norman Reedus does think that Daryl and Carol are similar people who share a very special bond. As the Inquisitr previously reported, he’s even said that his mother is a Caryl shipper.
Unfortunately for Mama Reedus, Daryl might hook up with another character if a certain star of The Walking Dead gets her way. During a recent interview with SFX magazine, Norman was asked if Daryl Dixon is emotionally mature enough for a relationship. The actor isn’t sure if his character is quite ready for romance, but he hinted that costar Danai Gurira is a Dixonne shipper.
“I don’t know. Michonne’s been giving me eyeballs lately.”
In a past interview with the Daily Beast, Norman Reedus revealed that he’s open to the idea of Daryl and Michonne hooking up on The Walking Dead.
“She’s a cute girl. I’m not opposed to it.”
However, Michonne might have to work on boosting Daryl’s self esteem — Norman thinks that his character needs to learn to love himself before he can love someone else.
“He comes from a background where he feels like he’s one of the undesirable ones,” Reedus told SFX of his Walking Dead character. “So he doesn’t think anyone would be attracted to him that way.”
