Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer shows off Historia Crux system

If you’ve been keeping up with your Final Fantasy XIII-2 news, you’re probably already aware of the game’s time traveling mechanic–but if you’re like me, you still have no idea just how it’s supposed to work.

While the latest Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer isn’t going to explain it all for you, it should at least give you some idea of what you can do with the Historia Crux system. With the Historia Crux time traveling mechanic, players will be able to traverse alternate timelines that have an impact on the main one, and visit previously-explored areas.

In case you’ve forgotten, a Final Fantasy XIII-2 demo is available for download straight from your Xbox 360 or PlayStatation 3 through Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. It’s a fairly lengthy demo that should give you some idea of what to expect when the full game launches in North America on January 31.
