‘The Flash’ Spoilers: Barry’s Mother’s Murder, Time Travel, And Emily Kinney Cast As The Bug-Eyed Bandit

Time travel is officially coming to The Flash. It’s been teased for some time now, but Joe and Cisco’s investigation into Barry’s mother’s murder led to a discovery that can’t be explained any other way than with time travel. But what’s coming next? Plus, there’s some intriguing casting news out about episode 18, the one featuring another Arrow crossover, with Felicity and Ray Palmer visiting Central City, and it might make Walking Dead fans somewhat happy.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, there is a time travel episode coming up in The Flash season 1, and it’s going to be wild, funny and dark and have major repercussions for the show. Before, it was just a theory that Barry may have been there the night his mother was killed and may have been the one to take his younger self away from the house to protect himself. That theory became a fact in the latest episode, as Joe and Cisco went to Barry’s old house to search for any clues that had been missed and found blood that couldn’t belong to his mother. Instead, the blood belongs to two people – and one of them is Barry, but not Barry as a kid. This blood belongs to Barry as an adult. The only possible explanation is time travel.

Carlos Valdes spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about why Joe and Cisco working together works.

“Their partnership compliments them really well. Joe has that natural capability of being a detective and assess the situation given a small amount of clues. Cisco is the muscle in that he can make all of the technology that makes things happen. Their relationship is really possible because they are able to cover so much ground.”

The CW has released an extended promo for the next The Flash Season 1 episode, “Fallout,” and you can watch it below. In it, Dr. Wells tells the others that time travel is possible. Barry swears he won’t make the same mistake twice.

As stated above, a Walking Dead actress is appearing in episode 18. According to E! News, Emily Kinney will be playing Brie Larvan, and if you recognize that last name, you should. In the comics, the character is the inventor Bertram Larvan, also known as the Bug-Eyed Bandit, a villain connected to the Atom. On the show, she’s also going to get on Felicity’s bad side.

“When the Starling City duo arrives in Central City, Felicity immediately recognizes Brie as her nemesis, and the two women engage in a hacker battle for The Flash’s life,” E! News teases of the episode.

The Flash season 1 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW.
