Fat Amy Goes Commando In Newest Pitch Perfect 2 Trailer

Aca-believe it! Rebel Wilson and acapella fans alike are rejoicing today, as Universal Pictures released the second trailer for its highly anticipated sequel Pitch Perfect 2.

Fans had been pleading for a sequel for almost a year when producers finally humbly obliged in April of 2013 and announced a summer 2015 debut for Pitch Perfect 2. Since then, much of the information surrounding the plot of the film has been hush-hush, and fans have been gleaning what they could from set pictures and short clips.

The new trailer is a little more generous with a plot line reveal than the previous trailer and Pitch Perfect fans will be pleased to see that Wilson’s Fat Amy hasn’t lost any of her charisma… just clothes.

Fat Amy has moved beyond “horizontal running” in the newest Pitch Perfect installment, and in an aerial dance suspended from silk ribbons she experiences a wardrobe malfunction in front of a packed audience gathered to celebrate the President of the United States’ birthday.

Fat Amy’s “commando” situation in front of the Commander in Chief is a significant enough faux pas to get the Barden Bellas suspended from competition. In order to get back in good graces with the ICCA, the Bellas must take on and beat the intimidating European group Das Sound Machine.

The premise sounds precisely like the right mix of tenacity, wit, song, and dance, and with a little bit of Beyoncé thrown in, it is sure to thrill the fans of the original Pitch Perfect movie.

Pitch Perfect 2 reunites the cast of Rebel Wilson, Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and the rest of the Barden Bellas, and brings in a few fresh faces, including True Grit‘s Hailee Steinfeld and Sons of Anarchy mother of the year Katey Sagal.

The film also marks the directorial debut of Pitch Perfect alum Elizabeth Banks and welcomes the return of the original Pitch Perfect writer, Kay Cannon.

The original Pitch Perfect film was a huge financial success in 2012, raking in more than $65 million domestically. Its establishment as a cult classic became even clearer when DVD sales of the film exceeded $101 million domestically.

Pitch Perfect‘s soundtrack also experienced moderate success, with Anna Kendrick’s rendition of “Cups” spending several weeks on the Billboard charts.

The accomplishments of its predecessor seems to be setting up Pitch Perfect 2 for similar success.

So break out your pitch pipes and start working on your cardio. Pitch Perfect 2 hits theaters May 15.

What do you think? Will it be aca-awesome?
