Meghan Trainor: ‘I’m Confident Now, And I Look Good!’

Meghan Trainor is opening about her body confidence and her rise to fame. The “All About That Bass” singer is featured on Seventeen magazine’s March 2015 issue. Inside the magazine, Meghan gives young girls advice on having higher self-esteem and getting their makeup right.

Trainor, 21, admits that she wasn’t always confident. Early on in her career, she couldn’t see herself as a pop singer.

“When I saw photos of myself, I would think, I look awful. There’s a double chin! I never thought I’d be a pop star. I don’t look like Rihanna. [Then] after the video for All About That Bass came out … when I was signing autographs, this girl came up to me bawling and said, ‘You make me feel pretty again. Thank you.’ It really resonated with me that this girl was so gorgeous, and she didn’t even know it. It’s a mental thing. Just recently I was thinking, ‘I’m confident now, and I look good,’ and that’s because I’ve started saying those words out loud more. So now when I see pictures, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, why would I hate myself at all? I look incredible in that picture!'”

Meghan believes that positive thinking and having a good attitude is the cure to attacking one’s insecurities. The singer also revealed that she’s single at the moment and doesn’t mind. Meghan would rather focus on her career than jump into another relationship.

“I knew my life would be complicated if my dreams of becoming a success in music came true. And I knew I’d have to work hard to achieve those dreams, and that they’d have to take a front seat in my life. So even though I went cray in high school, now I haven’t kissed a boy in forever. I keep telling myself that the right guy is going to be worth the wait. When I find the one, it’s going to be like, ‘Damn, that’s why you took so long! ‘Cause you’re awesome!'”

Trainor is giving young girls some good advice in the issue of Seventeen magazine. She not only tells girls how to build up their self-esteem, but she also tells them to follow their dreams instead of chasing guys.

Meghan also became the new face for Clinique. Meghan Trainor fans can get her natural Seventeen look with the Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in Matte Beauty, according to Hollywood Life. If you rather wear a gloss, try the Long Last Glosswear in First Date.

Some fans are wondering if Trainor’s career is already over. The 2015 Grammys and Twitter results tell a different story, according to a recent report on the Inquisitr. Trainor’s Twitter account shows that she had an amazing time at the Grammy Awards and that her career is just starting.
